Grown on a single vineyard in the Coldstream area of the Yarra Valley. Steep-sided vineyard; 25% gradient in parts. I like this more than the higher-priced Stephanie’s Dream pinot noir from the same vintage. It’s a beauty. Fresh, crisp, taut, long. Not necessarily savoury but not overtly sweet-fruited either. Vibrant. Dark cherry, woodsmoke, dried herbs, leaf matter. An autumn walk of a wine. Both sprightly and precise. Rating: 94 Points; Drink: 2015-2021+; Price: $30.00; Date Tasted: Aug 2014; Alcohol: 12.5%; Campbell Mattinson - The Wine Front

Wild yeast-fermented in open oak vats (foudres) with whole berries, then matured in new French barrels. Clear, bright crimson; the highly fragrant, floral bouquet leads into a palate of ultimate precision and detail, its supple mouthfeel and length throwing the red fruits into high relief. Rating: 95 Points; Drink by: 2020; Price: $30.00; Date Tasted: Feb 2014; Alcohol: 12.5%; James Halliday Wine Companion
