Yarra Yering is one of the oldest and most beautiful vineyards in the Yarra Valley consisting of 28 hectares of vines located at the foot of the Warramate Hills. Established in 1969 by Dr Bailey Carrodus the 1973 vintage saw the production of the first vintage of Dry Red Wines – No’s 1 & 2. This saw Yarra Yering quickly gain an international reputation for quality and individuality.
Made solely from the original 1969 plantings at Yarra Yering. A highly individual style, reflecting its single vineyard origin A little ginger cream spice and texture from barrel maturation and fermentation add layers, depth and intrigue while the fresh line of acidity drives the palate prolonging the fruit flavour.
Crushed, skin-contacted, basket-pressed, fermented (100% mlf) and matured in French oak). Bright straw-green; a throwback to an almost forgotten style, incredibly rich and textured, with multiple layers of peachy fruit, honey and cashew balanced by fresh, natural acidity. Almost impossible to point as it will polarise opinions. The screwcap will be the wine's salvation as it ages.
