Yarra Yering is one of the oldest and most beautiful vineyards in the Yarra Valley consisting of 28 hectares of vines located at the foot of the Warramate Hills. Established in 1969 by Dr Bailey Carrodus the 1973 vintage saw the production of the first vintage of Dry Red Wines – No’s 1 & 2. This saw Yarra Yering quickly gain an international reputation for quality and individuality.

Made exclusively from 1969 original plantings of shiraz. Pretty violet perfume, ripe plum fruit, pepper spice and cured meats. The palate is slate-like, tightly coiled with bright fruit, some gamey undertones and an acid freshness to see it through the ages.

From the tiny '69 planting. The bouquet is highly charged and perfumed, with both red and black fruits spanning plums and berries, and French oak chimes in on the background. It's only on the palate that the very special quality of the wine is laid bare, spelling finesse and length in diamond-encrusted block letters. It soars on the finish line like a great Burgundy, the aftertaste virtually endless. Drink by: 2044;  Alcohol: 13.0%; Rating: 99 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday; Wine Companion
