Xanadu Wines has been producing an exciting range of award-winning, regional wines representing more than 40 years of winemaking tradition. The winery was started by Dr John Lagan, who planted his first vines in 1977 with the help and support of his wife, Eithne. Dr John named the winery after the exotic and mysterious city or place of paradise - Xanadu described in Samuel Coleridge’s famous poem, Kubla Kahn.

The bouquet immediately tells you the complex vinification has worked brilliantly, with struck match aromas, the layered palate of utterly exceptional intensity, with fruit, oak and acidity welded together so tightly it's impossible (and irrelevant) to unpick them, the aftertaste staggeringly long and intense. Drink by: 2021; Price: $24.00; Alcohol: 13.0%; Rating: 97 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion

Very light youthful colour with a fresh, clean bright lemony semillon varietal fruit aroma. Crisp, tangy, lively and refreshing. Intense lemon flavours; good concentration. The finish is dry and long, balanced and invites another sip. Very good indeed. Drink by: 2022; Price: $24.00; Date Tasted: March 2017; Alcohol: 13.0%; Rating: 93 Points; Huon Hooke; The Real Review
