What began as a yearly diversion for label designer Aaron Woods and marketer Nicholas Crampton has grown into almost a full time obsession, with a range of wines from the Barossa and Eden Valley spanning five varieties and numerous styles. The ambition of Woods Crampton is to create unforced wines that showcase the quality of their fruit and tell the story of their vineyards. Minimal intervention winemaking follows to create elegant and expressive wines.

It has taken four vintages to arrive at exactly everything we are trying to do with our Barossa Rose. Pale crimson in colour, the lightest so far but still darker than the classic Provence style. The nose is fresh and lifted with redcurrants, rosehip and spice. The palate is medium bodied and nicely poised with red berried fruit and soft natural fruit sweetness all wrapped in layers of complexity and texture. The finish is well-structured and impressively dry. A world away from commercial Rose, this is a thinking drinker’s Rose for pondering on long summer days.
