Hoddles Creek Estate was established in 1997 when the D'Anna family decided to establish a vineyard on the property that has been in the family since 1960. The vineyard sits astride Gembrook road and adjacent Hoddles Creek.

Gee, you’d not find many better Chardonnays at the price. It’s tight, all ripe citrus and spice, juicy white peach, some almond meal in the mix too. Bright with a flinty crunch to texture, and a finish of excellent length. Ticks all the boxes. Date: Nov 2023; Alcohol: 13%; Price: $20; Closure: Screwcap; Drink: 2023-2026+; Rated: 92 Points; Gary Walsh; The Wine Front

Sourced mainly from vineyards at Maccesfield and Woori Yallock in the Upper Yarra. It came with a note saying that this may be the last Wickhams Road Yarra Valley Chardonnay, as fruit is becoming impossible to source. You've been warned that arguably Australia's best under $20 chardonnay is getting scarce. As to the wine, it's been made in an upfront style with white peach and nectarines leading onto the scrumptious and very nicely balanced palate. Date: Nov 2023; Alcohol: 13%; Price: $20.00; Drink by: 2026; Rating: 93 Points & Special Value Star; Philip Rich; James Halliday Wine Companion
