The West Cape Howe winery is situated on the undulating, historical and picturesque property of Langton on Muir Highway, Mount Barker, Western Australia. The property was purchased from Goundrey in 2009. This state-of-the-art winery is a world class facility, importantly located in Mount Barker, the premier fruit source location for West Cape Howe.
It's the exceptionally fine fruit quality of the Great Southern region and the combined skill and artistry of viticulture and winemaking that provides the West Cape Howe wine drinker with a truly memorable experience. West Cape Howe has acquired some of the oldest vineyard resources in Western Australia, giving unequalled access to the best and most consistent quality fruit that the cool Great Southern wine region has to offer.
High quality shiraz from what I would guess to be some or all of the subregions of Great Southern. Great colour; it is a wine of purity and power, used oak rather than new for its maturation. It is bizarre that its price should be so low – this is an extraordinary bargain, even by the over-delivery standards West Cape Howe has set itself. Price: $17.00; Drink: to 2034; Best Value & 95 Points; James Halliday Wine Companion
