Voyager Estate Shiraz 2013
This impeccably run Estate crafts a set of wines that ooze style and class. Even better, the quality just keeps getting better and better, reflecting the continual evolution in the vineyard and winery. It was Michel Wright who immaculately built this property into the beacon it has become today. While Voyager's founder and visionary sadly passed away in 2012, he left a powerful legacy of an absolute commitment to quality that today pervades every corner of Voyager. The Estate remains family owned, with Michael’s daughter, Alex Burt (nee Wright), matching her father's fanatical attention to detail with an environmental conscience that has opened another important chapter in the history of this Estate.
Margaret River and particularly Voyager Estate, produce a cool-climate, medium-bodied style, with hints or spice. The 2012 vintage is a vibrant wine with great concentration and purity of fruit, yet still retains the finesse and elegance which are the hallmarks of the Voyager Estate style.
Lifted aromas of red and dark berries with briary notes and hints of vanillan. The palate displays vibrant black and blue fruits with complex earthy notes and hints of spice. The fine, layered tannins integrate seamlessly with nuances of cedar and vanillan derived from maturation in French and American oak.
Matured for 12 months in new and used oak (88% French, 12% American). Bright crimson colour heralds a wine full of vitality; red berry flavours surge through the mouth, gauzy tannins in the background adding to the exuberant mouthfeel and length.
