The Empsons chose friend and star oenologist Franco Bernabei to style the wines and their experience and expertise gives them access to a cross-section of Tuscany’s finest vineyards.

Toscolo Chianti, an all-Sangiovese varietal, is supple with cherry fruit and a soft, flavourful palate with appealing balance and that essential ‘bite’ that makes Sangiovese particularly food-friendly and versatile.

100% Sangiovese Chianti made by one of the great Tuscan Enologist’s Franco Bernabei at a ridiculously low price. 2013 vintage is one of his best vintagest for a few years and can be enjoyed immediately over a bowl of pasta or slice of pizza with great friends. Brilliant ruby in color, this forward Sangiovese is supple, fruity and flavorful on the palate, with appealing balance. A perfect all-around food wine to match first courses, red and white meats, and cheeses.

The 2013 Chianti from Toscolo is absolutely gorgeous in this vintage. Dark red and black plums, lavender spices and leather meld together in a juicy, supple wine that massively over-delivers considering its modest price tag. Rating: 88 Points; Antonio Galloni
