The Tomich Family owns 320 acres of vineyard in the Onkaparinga Valley, in the GI region of Adelaide Hills. This Shiraz is matured for 18 months in a combination of French and American oak ensuring a long and elegant finish. Vibrant dark fruits of blackberry, blackcurrant and plum. The flavoursome palate displays juicy mulberry and plum with hints of pepper and chocolate.
You might be forgiven for swapping the regions of this and its Tomich Hill McLaren Vale Shiraz sibling in a blind tasting, for this is medium to full-bodied. It is very complex in flavour, texture and structure, dark cherry and spice lifting the back-palate, finish and aftertaste to level all of its own. Drink to: 2035; Price: $30.00; Date Tasted: Jan 2017; Alcohol: 14%; Rating: 96 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday; Wine Companion
An inky dark red in the glass, the nose gives deep dark plum fruit with roasted meat and a touch of wood spice. The palate shows a medium bodied cool climate shiraz with all the trimmings, generous spice and supple dark chocolate tannins are laced amongst dark berry fruits. Great length to finish. Terrific value cool climate Shiraz. Drink to: 2016 - 2030; Alcohol: 14%; Rating: 94 Points; Patrick Eckel; The Wine Reviewer
