Trophy & Gold @ Great Australian Red.

Over the past decade and a bit, The Great Australian Red 2016 wine competition has emerged as one of Australia's most important. Showcasing the apogee of Australia’s definitive blend and exemplifying the exquisite synergy between cabernet and shiraz. Unlike almost all other shows, the 13 judges and chairman taste every single wine!

Anyway you cut it, performance of our feature wine in this year's show was remarkable. As Chairman Tyson Stelzer alluded to "In a resounding statement of the versatility of Australia’s unique blend, trophies this year were won by the least expensive entrant, and by a $250 flagship wine, the most expensive". That least expensive, the Tatachilla Partners Cabernet Shiraz 2015 was awarded a Gold Medal and ultimately the Trophy for the Best Wine $25 and Under. And despite our offer price of just $9.99 per bottle, by the dozen, delivered to most - it was pipped to the overall winner by a $250 Cabernet Shiraz blend from Hardys.

As you could imagine, the Partners left in its wake a who's who of Australian wine, some costing more for a single bottle than the cost of a dozen bottles of Partners. It scored more than Wolf Blass Black Label (two entries) and Grey Label (two entries) Lindemans Limestone (two entries), Yalumba Signature (two entires) and FDR1A (three entries), Majella, St Hugo, Penfolds 389, Jacobs Creek Johann and the list goes on. And before I'm accused of picking on these esteemed labels - these were just the minor medal winners and all were from perceived outstanding years!
