Sticks Vineyard Select A8 Block Pinot Noir 2013
Sticks wines embody the true regional characters of the Yarra Valley. Aimed at being lively on the palate and a fruit driven wine style, we source our fruit in parcels ranging from 5 - 40 tonnes from premium growers across the Yarra Valley.
From part of a clonal planting on the Upper Ngumby Vineyard, this 277 Chardonnay clone had slightly larger bunches and berries than average. Fruit selection started with tasting off the vine, and this fruit showed great promise from an early stage with its depth of concentration and flavour
Vines planted '79; open fermentation of whole berries, brief cold soak, hand-plunged, fermented dry, transferred to tank then new and used hogsheads, matured on lees for 16 months. Very good hue, full and bright; the bouquet resonates with plum, the palate picking up the theme, and adding a touch of black cherry for emphasis. Very good now, will be even better in a few years to come. Drink By: 2023; Price: $45.00; Date Tasted: 25 Feb 2015; Alcohol: 12.5%; Rating: 95 Points; James Halliday - Australian Wine Companion
