The Sidewood Vineyard is situated at the 300 acre Ashwood Estate in the cool-climate of the Adelaide Hills wine region, 380m above sea level. Climate, soil, careful pruning techniques and hand-picking play a vital role to ensure that only the best fruit is produced for Sidewood Wines. With the rows of vineyards planted facing East - West, this ensures that combined with intensive canopy management the intensity of the fruit flavour profile will be enhanced.

Wild-fermented in French barriques, matured for 10 months. The intensity and length of the fruit is exceptional, and has swallowed up the French oak without even blinking. The accent is slight more on the citrus (grapefruit) side than the stone fruit (nectarine, white peach), the finish as fresh as a spring day. Value++. The nose shows plenty of winemaker derived influences with an unmistakable leesy funk that pushes the envelope but has enough concentration of white peach and melon baking it up to pull it off. The palate shows a youthfulness of fruit with melon and tropical notes that build towards a richer and more varietal expression of stone fruits. There is an ever-present note of both barrel derived flintiness as well as a fine line of acidity that carries the wine through to it’s finish. Will certainly reward a few years.
