Scarborough White Label and Green Label Semillon, as is tradition, is only fermented and stored in stainless steel, bottled early and usually released at around one year of age. No oak treatment; pale green; nose of citrus, zest of fresh limes, aromatic and lifted; palate of lemon and lime, restrained crisp structure, mineral acid. Classic Hunter Valley style, drink now or cellar over the next 5+ years for toasty flavours. Winemakers notes
Pale colour; the bouquet is restrained and reveals glimpses of lemon sherbet and bath talc; the palate is lively and fresh, focused and unevolved; simply needs time for flesh to be put on its bones. This is the top of the Scarborough Semillon tree and is principally their more 'classic' Hunter Semillon. Looks quite backwards too, though backwards can be great for Semillon (and video clips. Just look how much more fun the backward bits are in this Ok Go video clip. I like their new one too). Green fruit on the cusp of lemon nose. Super tight but potential. Rather soft acidity considering the buy-now, drink-later style. Light and cleansing, pure Hunter Semillon palate, the finish long and assured. It's not quite got the intensity of say - a Braemore - or the like, but an enjoyable wine for the classicists (like me) with the future equally assured.. 17.6/91+ Australian Wine Review
