A distinctly cool and restrained nose is comprised by notes of both red and dark currant, cinnamon, violet, Pekoe tea, clove, hoisin and noticeable wood treatment. The imposingly-scaled, concentrated and almost painfully intense mineral-driven flavors possess a beguiling inner mouth perfume that continues onto the robust, earthy, dusty and moderately austere finish that, somewhat curiously, is noticeably shorter than usual. This dense, structured and ultra-serious effort feels as though it is only beginning to take shape and as such my score offers the benefit of the doubt that this will come together with time in bottle of which I underscore that plenty will be required. Rating: 94 Points; Tasted: Jan 2016; Drink: 2033+; Issue: 61; Allen Meadows; Burghound

The 2013 Richebourg Grand Cru, whose malolactics finished two months earlier than other crus, is nurturing a very complex bouquet: a mixture of red and black fruit but here with touches of black truffle in the background. Of course, it has wonderful definition. It already boasts a cashmere texture on the palate, extraordinarily smooth with outstanding weight on the finish. Gentle and self-effacing, this should be compelling once in bottle.  Rating: 94-96 Points; Date: Dec 2014; Neal Martin; Robert Parker The Wine Advocate
