Riversdale Estate is located in the Coal River Valley and lies in the shadow of the famous UTAS radio telescope. The Coal River Valley enjoys wonderfully mild and dry wealther during the ripening season between December and April, and is quickly becoming recognized for the reliability and quality of its wines.

Riesling in the Coal River Valley ripens reliably and generally free of Botrytis which can be a problem in wetter areas. Wines from this variety show intense floral and citrus fruit flavours with a strong mineral acid palate structure, which makes Riesling ideal as an aperitif style or as an accompani ment to delicate sea foods, and also ensures that they have particularly strong cellaring potential.

This wine really shows off the vibrancy and vitality of our vineyard's juicy, lime/citrus Riesling characters. They are very distinctive, closely resembling Bickford's Lime Juice Cordial –deep; essency; brimming with flavour. In so many ways, the wine reminds us of the long, languid days of summer. There's superb balance between the wine's fruit sweetness and its life-giving natural acidity.

Cool-fermented in stainless steel with cultured yeast. Wow, the impact of this riesling is extraordinary; the intensity of the essence of lime juice fruit is almost painful, the aftertaste lingering for minutes. Not entered in the Tasmanian Wine Show, which is a pity. Buy 2 dozen bottles, one for now, one for your roaring 40s if it's not too late.
