2006 base; 76% pinot noir, 10% pinot meunier, 14% chardonnay; 54% with malolactic fermentation; 78% fermented in large oak foudres. Empreinte has the capacity to age remarkably well, and a sample from Geoffroy’s cellar this year from the weak 2001 base vintage was the finest I’ve ever seen it. This cuvee captures the expression of Cumie`res pinots and in a vintage as fine and pure as 2006 it does so with particular confidence. Exuberant notes of yellow plum, wild honey, exotic spice and grilled pineapple are brought into tight control by a backbone of linear acidity and pure grapefruit and lemon fruit. A fine mineral thread weaves through a finish that drives on long and complex. 94 points; Tyson Stelzer

The NV Brut Empreinte emerges from the glass with beautifully delineated fruit, great body and terrific overall balance. Sweet red berries, flowers and mint are some of the nuances that are woven into a rich fabric of notable class. The Empreinte shows striking depth and purity. The higher percentage of Pinot seems inherently better suited to vinification in oak than the Chardonnay in this vintage. The Empreinte is 76% Pinot Noir, 14% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Meunier, all from the 2006 vintage. Approximately 54% of the blend underwent malolactic fermentation. Dosage is 4 grams per liter. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2014. 92 Points; Antonio Galloni; Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate
