Remi Jobard Bourgogne Blanc 2009
There is Chardonnay and then there is White Burgundy. Prior to Christmas last year we utilised this headline to introduce the wonderful White Burgundies from Domaine Remi Jobard. These are incredible estate and bio-dynamically grown examples of Chardonnay. A modern and elegant expression of an old world appellation. Be it the purity of fruit, the minerality, the texture or simply the desire to keep reaching for the glass, there is something special about Chardonnay from these parts be it Bourgogne from an outstanding vintage to a Grand Cru from a hand tended vineyard.
From six parcels all in close proximity to village vineyards owned by Jobard and located in Meursault. Creamy white fruit and white flowers. Lemon too along with interlaced bright acidity and a persistent long fresh finish. Minerally. Dry. Excellent. Rated : 91 Points; Gary Walsh; The Wine Front (2011 Review)
Re-tasted and it’s not your average BB. Struck match, spice, honey and citrus. Juicy palate, core of good acidity, burst of flavour, spice and minerality, but not particularly great shape or length – though good enough, obviously. Like the finish. Tight, especially so for a 2009. Alcohol : 13.5%; Drink : 2013 - 2019; Rated : 91 Points; Gary Walsh; The Wine Front (2013 Review)
