Red Claw wines are hand crafted with fruit from Yabby Lake’s own vineyards. The wines are made following the same principles that guide the single vineyard wines.

With Red Claw the emphasis is on making wines that are bright, juicy and more expressive when young – lending them perfectly to the Australian lifestyle and the way we like to dine.  Available under the Red Claw label is Mornington Peninsula Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir as well as a Grenache Rosé and a Shiraz from our Heathcote Estate.

Perfumed, fragrant aromas are dominated by cherry and dark berry fruits complemented by a touch of spice and underlying French oak. The long, silky palate has a lovely elegance and velvety texture, with concentrated red fruit flavours and a finely poised finish.

You can buy this without hesitation. It’s a little warm perhaps but it’s varietal, fragrant, well turned out and just plain delicious. Sweet-sour cherries, woody spice notes, a tasty, tangy, firm-ish finish. Scracthes the pinot noir itch very nicely indeed. Rating: 91 Points; Drink: 2016-2020; Price: $27.50; Date Tasted: May 2015; Alcohol: 14%; Campbell Mattinson - The Wine Front

17yo vines, hand-picked, hand-sorted by bunch and berry, a mix of destemmed, whole berry and whole bunches in open fermenters, 7-10 days on skins, 10 months maturation in French oak (20% new). Excellent colour sets the scene for a wine loaded with pinot varietal fruit, but needing another year or so to open up fully, especially on the finish. Drink by: 2025; Price: $27.00; Date Tasted: Feb 2016; Alcohol: 14%; Rating: 94 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday Wine Companion
