Trevor Jones A/T Liqueur Shiraz 1982 375ml
During the 1982 vintage after a particularly long and stressful day, I climbed into my 1950 International A.A.160 truck with a tanker of 5,000 litres of superb young 100% Shiraz Tawny that I had made. I was carting it to a maturation cellar to transfer into old brandy hogsheads. About 2km along the tight winding road, the bearers holding the tank on the old truck snapped and the tank pitched sideways onto the roadside with the full tank performing a complete 5 tonne somersault in mid air at about 40km/h. The tank lid flipped open as it came to rest right way up. As the dust settled and I climbed down from the broken truck to view the apparent disaster, I was amazed to see less than one litre of wine had escaped. The following morning a large crane was enlisted to lift the wayward tank onto a new truck to complete its journey to barrel. Now after 18 years rest and maturation, you can enjoy the Shiraz that almost never was. A superb tawny that has been through a lot to get to your glass.
