Yarra Valley Cabernet has taken a back seat over the last few years to the more fashionable, and mildly more successful Burgundian varieties of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay but just a whiff of this wine takes one back, not so long ago, when this variety was king. It is great to see such quality can still be had for a reasonable amount of money despite that fact that literally only a few barrels of this wine exist. On the medium bodied palate there are flavours of dark cherry, blackcurrant, cigar box and black olives.
