This majestic wine, from the outstanding 1990 vintage, was inspired by its famous and multi-awarded predecessors, the 1966 Bin 620 and 1982 Bin 820. These singular, special wines represent the continual striving for excellence that has marked the evolution of all the Penfolds red wine styles. The 1990 Bin 920 is a blend of carefully selected, elite quality Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz grapes from the classic red wine district of Coonawarra. Despite softness and early appeal of the Bin 920, it has the strength, structure and balance to support extended cellaring. An earthy, spicy red with emerging forest floor and game-like nuances. Intense blackberry and stewed plum fruit is married to assertive, balanced new cedary oak.
