    Grant Burge Thorn Riesling 2008

    Grant Burge Thorn Riesling 2008

The 2008 Thorn is pale straw in colour, with youthful green highlights. This delicate wine has aromas of brown lime and subtle lemon with typical Eden Valley floral, spice and mineral characters. The palate is well rounded and shows similar flavours of florals and lime, with crisp acidity leading to a fresh, dry finish. This wine shows excellent balance, integration and length, and will reward from careful cellaring for five to ten years, or may be enjoyed now; a perfect choice with fresh natural oysters with squeezed lime and lemon juice.

A fuller style with intense and vibrant flavours of citrusy fruit. Nice wine that will drink best in the short term. Great Whites- West Australian 20.11.08

The Edne Valley wine region is part of the Barossa and is renowned for producing quality riesling. This is a flavoursome wine with classic citrus and floral characters ahead of a refreshing, crsip acid finish. Food Match: fresh SA oysters natural. By the glass with Darryl Thomas — Sunday Territorian 19.10.08

Burge's '08 Eden Valley riesling is sporting some handy ripeness and attractive richness in its youth. Concentrated flavour builds up to stone fruits and ripe citrus, acidity slides through below and holds a whisper-clean, juicy line through the finish. HOT 100 SA Wines-Nick Stock — The Adelaide Review October 2008

Lots of deep fruit: apple skin, lemon peel. Smells of minerally acidity, too. Attacks plump and soft; bruised apples and dried banana and then tingly chewy, but also quite creamy. Lots of flavour. 93 points; Tim White- The Independent 18.12.08
