The Alkoomi vineyards and winery of Merv & Judy Lange are located in the Frankland River district of Western Australia’s Great Southern wine region. Since climatic conditions are similar to those of Bordeaux in France, it is not surprising that this region produces some of the best wines made in Australia. The name Alkoomi is taken from local aboriginal dialect and means ‘a place we chose’. The logo represents a distinctive Australian plant which grows in the area.

The grapes for the 2007 Riesling were picked in the cool of the night over three nights at a harvest baumé of 13.0 - 13.5. The wine was fermented cool over a period of three weeks then bottled early to maximize fruit aromas and flavours. Growing Region: Frankland River, Western Australia. Vintage: A warm, dry spring, followed by a moderate summer, resulted in a very early harvest.

Pale straw with green highlights. Intense aromatics of lemon, mineral and citrus blossom dominate the nose of this cool climate Frankland River Riesling. The palate is tight and crisp with richness and complexity. With extended bottle age this wine will continue to gain greater depth and develop into a classic Riesling style. Alcohol: 13.5%
