    Saint Clair Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2008

    The strength of this Cuvée lies in the selection of Sauvignon Blanc, and urgent handling of the wine. Fruit is sourced from good vineyards within the Lower Wairau, Rapaura, O’Dwyers Road and Brancott Valley appellations. Each block is harvested as it reaches optimal maturity and physiological ripeness. Grapes are transported to the winery with great haste to retain the crisp, crunchy aspects of vital Marlborough fruit, pressed off immediately to minimize skin contact and juice deterioration. After settling, the juices are fermented in clean tanks at cooler temperatures using a variety of selected yeasts.

    Each batch is assessed for quality, only the best components make it into the finished Saint Clair. Pale straw with green hues. Intense, powerful aromas of passion fruit, blackcurrant and gooseberry with lifted notes of grapefruit leap out of the glass. A full, crisp and powerful wine with intense flavours of passionfruit and blackcurrant, subtle gooseberry and herbal tones. The wine is well balanced with an elegant palate and a lingering finish. Saint Clair will be at its best when paired off with good cuisine and charming company.
