2009 takes its place in a series of warm vintages for the Canberra District. Impressive fruit concentration and ripe flavours are the hallmarks this year. There is certainly no shortage of flavour: citrus, pear, ginger and apricot aromas lead onto a potent palate with that classic mouth coating Viognier texture. A red drinker's white if ever there was one.
Pristine and pure apricot meal, gentle spices and a highly appealing, almost sensual mineral core; the palate is unctuous on entry, almost thickly textured, but follows through with cleansing, savoury texture, bordering on bitterness but not overstepping the mark; eerily similar to those made in the northern Rhone in France. Rating: 94; James Halliday's Wine Companion 2011
