    Scotchmans Hill Sauvignon Blanc 2008

    Scotchmans Hill Sauvignon Blanc 2008

The Sauvignon Blanc comes from vines that are 14 to 22 years in age, the wine is completely unoaked and underwent 100% stainless steel tank fermentation, yielding a fresh easily drinkable varietal that is best consumed in it's youth. Low yields and careful management in the vineyard produced a wine of elegance, complexity and true varietal character. A thoroughly pleasant and lively Bellarine Peninsula wine offering excellent intensity and superb Sauvignon Blanc flavours of tropical fruits, lychees and gooseberry.

Appearance is a mid straw with a green tinge. Intense lifted tropical fruit characters, strikingly of paw paw and guava with hints of gooseberries and grassy herbaceous overtones. The palate is fresh and lively with excellent intensity and displays even more rich tropical fruits, further gooseberry flavours, with some mid palate greennesss. Some mineral characters are also evident which is one of the hallmarks of Sauvignon Blanc in the region. This is balanced by clean fresh acid with a lingering aftertaste. This wine should be enjoyed over the next couple of years while displaying its fresh varietal character.

Scotchmans Hill Geelong Sauvignon Blanc 2008. Distinguished sauvignon blanc, with abundant gooseberry, passionfruit and tropical fruit on the bouquet, and the well-balanced palate, which has both line and length. Screwcap. 13% alc. Rating 94 Points Drink 2011 $25 Date Tasted Dec 08 James Halliday Wine Companion
