    O'Leary Walker Sauvignon Blanc 2008

    O'Leary Walker Sauvignon Blanc 2008

The 2008 wine is finer again than the 2007 vintage yet with still quite powerful fruit. The palate is typical of our vineyard, with lychee, passionfruit and mouthwatering acidity and balance. A freshing and fruit-driven style. The Adelaide Hills is arguably one of the best regions in Australia for Sauvignon Blanc. The altitude, soils and weather patterns, influenced by the Mt Lofty Ranges, seem to draw the best from these varieties. The cool climate influence dictates a long and even ripening, maximising varietal character and intensity of flavour. The O’Leary family vineyard at Oakbank faces north-east and is quite high on a gentle sloping hill. The soils are gravelly and well drained with a large amount of quartz.

Elegant and crisp, with clearly defined varietal fruit on bouquet and palate, ranging through grassy to passionfruit notes; good length and finish. Screwcap. 12.5% alc. Rating 93 points Drink 2010 $18.50 Date Tasted Jul 08 James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2009

Starting with all the indicative herbal impressions of the variety, including an attractive parsley-like lift, as well as plenty of tropical fruit aromatics singing with brightness and hyper citrus acidity and mouthfeel. Full of zing in its overall performance. 93 points; Tony Love, The Advertiser (Aus), 3 September 2008
