Chandon Brut Vintage 2005 (Crown Seal)

One example is Domaine Chandon’s 2005 Vintage Brut, a blend mainly of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Floral, fresh, enticing, focused. Chris Morrison Australian House and Garden - April 2008

It can be no surprise that the Chandon 2005 Vintage Brut is a classy sparkler that would team well with sashimi or tempura sardines. It is straw-hued and has small persistent bubbles. The nose suggests orange blossom and fresh-baked croissants and pear comes through on the front of the palate. Lemon sherbet, marzipan and cashew elements combine on the middle palate and crisp steely acid refreshes at the finish. The wine base is a blend of 57% chardonnay, 41% pinot noir and 2% pinot Meunier. Newcastle Herald - July 2008

In Australia, makers such as Domaine Chandon...have produced small amounts of late disgorged sparkling wine. The current Domaine Chandon Vintage Brut 2005 with 2.5 years on lees is beautifully soft and creamy with excellent persistence and finesse. Ray Jordan West Australian - April 2008

Chandon is arguably Australia’s most consistent, large production bubbly and the 2005 is a ripper. It has a clean egg-custard, melon and stone-fruit aromas, and is intense in the mouth with good depth of flavour that lingers on the finish. Balanced for optimal drinkability. Food - Smoked salmon. Huon Hooke - 92 Points Sydney Morning Herald - September 2008

Domaine Chandon is part of an international stable of companies that includes Champagne’s Moet & Chandon, Krug and Veuve Clicquot. As such, the Yarra Valley operation makes some of Australia’s best bubblies. The 2005 blend of traditional varieties is impressive. It’s wonderfully complex in flavour and aroma, and offers a dazzling combination of length, texture and finesse. Mark Smith Sunday Examiner - May 2008

Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy’s Yarra Valley fizzhouse has been there a long time now, so we’re starting to see the fruits of much more mature vineyards add complexity and depth to the Chandon sparklers. This new vintage shows classy bread and biscuit aromas from its yeast, and plenty of that fresh-sliced strawberry stuff that comes from the pinot noir. The palate’s clean, safe and creamy, with a gentle mousee that sets the eyes-aglint and the tongue wagging. The finish is langorous, dry and persistent with a long, gently tannic aftertaste. Easy, plush suds for easy, plush livers. er, living. Philip White Independent Weekly - April 2008
