The Pousse d’Or domaine at Volnay was established in 1954. Its vineyards are anything but ordinary, consisting as they do mainly of premier and grand crus in the villages of Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, Corton, Pommard, Volnay, Puligny-Montrachet and Santenay. The domaine’s 18 hectares yield 90,000 bottles annually and are managed in a spirit of respect for terroir.
A very ripe nose of plum and red berry fruit trimmed in light stone aromas leads to rich, earthy and very generous middle weight flavors that possess a complex, vibrant and utterly delicious finish. This is lovely and worth considering. Score: 90 points; Drink: 2016+; Tasted: May 2011; Issue: 42; Outstanding - Allen Meadows - Burghound
