Establishing Pizzini Wines in 1994, Fred and Katrina Pizzini have built the brand based on their passion for family and a strong commitment to their Italian heritage, hard work and determination. With 30 years of ‘hands-on’ viticultural experience, Fred supports his winemaker son Joel in producing layered and elegant wines rich with texture and flavour; bringing them ever closer to achieving their goal.

Pietra Rossa is suggestive of the iron rich soils (red coloured) of the King Valley. A blend of three vineyard sites. Just a touch of canaiolo in the blend here (4%). This is the wine formerly known just as Pizzini Sangiovese, now with a subtitle.

Estate-grown, machine-harvested, cultured brunello yeast for hot fermentation, lightly pressed to French oak (20% new) for 14 months maturation. Has the penetrating flavour in the wake of light colour that easily confuses the uninitiated, but is the birthmark of most sangiovese. While relatively low in tannins, the flavours stick to the mouth well into the aftertaste ? all things you will find in this wine. Whether you will enjoy the experience is another matter ? drinking lots of sangiovese is the best way to sort things out if you don?t immediately enjoy it.
