This is the 30th anniversary release of a Clare Valley icon - a wine that has been relentless in its excellence for many years. The Pikes make a classic Clare style; powdery and floral on the nose with Granny Smith apple notes; crisp, dry and refreshing on the palate with brisk citrus notes, bright acid and river pebble notes/zingy minerality. Lean and clean with just 11% alcohol, this is absolutely brilliant in its youth and can be a "go to" wine for summer enjoyment. A lot of experts will tell you to cellar this, but for me it is just too delicious in its youth to bother waiting for development. I'll give it 96 points. Winsor Dobbin; Wine of the Week

Tasted a dozen 2014 South Australian Riesling last night. Mainly very good. Pikes is pretty much my ‘go to’ Riesling over Riesling Season. Spicy, lime leaf, vanilla perfume, lemon/lime. Sweet juicy Riesling flavour, fine talc-like texture, bright acidity, slight herbal bitterness on the finish. Great drinking. Such bounciness and joy, which edged the rating up one point. I’d drink it young. Tasted : Sep-14 Alcohol : 11% Price : $26 Closure: Screwcap Drink : 2015 - 2022+ Rated : 94 Points; Gary Walsh; The Wine Front

Estate and contract-grown fruit from Polish Hill, Watervale and Sevenhill; this is the 30th consecutive release of this wine. Lemon leads the flavour charge, hotly pursued by lime, then vibrant acidity catching up on the finish, with a reprise of the lemon. Screwcap; Drink To: 2025; Price: $26.00; Alcohol: 11%; Rating: 95 Points; James Halliday Wine Companion
