The Hill & Valley Series wines honour the greatness of our growers' vineyards that have defined quality at Peter Lehmann Wines since our foundation in 1979. Each vintage we keep certain parcels of fruit separate and release them as individual wines. We believe these wines to be a true expression of the varietal characters and unique terroir of the vineyards from which they are made.
A classic Peter Lehmann Riesling showing delicate fruit purity and the hallmark mineral typicity of Eden Valley. The grapes were sourced from the Petney’s single-vineyard atop the High Eden Valley in the Eastern Barossa Ranges. This steep east-facing site is particularly cool as it lies over 420m above sea level on shallow rocky soils – ideal for enhancing the natural acid balance of an exceptional Riesling. Expect this captivating wine to show great longevity as it narrowly missed Wigan, our top Riesling and will reward with patient cellaring
One of the most exciting new Eden Valley riesling releases in years, this is the wine that the Lehmann wizards have dubbed “baby Wigan”. Sourced from a single vineyard, the highest from which Lehmann sources in High Eden, it narrowly missed out on being anointed as this year’s Wigan for release in four year’s time. One of the most refined and pure wines of the vintage, it’s achingly pristine, impeccably poised, crystalline and underlined by beautifully structured, slatey minerality. Benchmark Lehmann. Drink: 2012-2014 or 2017-2022 95 Points; Tyson Stelzer
A sensational new-release riesling from a winery that always delivers excellent value for money. Hill and Valley is a new range using premium fruit from the Barossa and Eden valleys and the Adelaide Hills and this is a terrific wine from an excellent riesling vintage. It's aromatic with refreshing, invigorating acid and lashings of lime juice flavours. A super wine for spring slurping; and it would be great with seafood or Asian dishes. Winsor Dobbin;
A new benchmark early-release riesling from Lehmann, this wine narrowly missed the cut for the flagship Wigan release. It's one of Eden's most exciting new labels in years. Rating: 95 Points; Tyson Stelzer; Wine 100 Reviews
Gold Medal ~ 2012 Barossa Wine Show
Has plenty of flavour, but at the same time there’s admirable refinement. An attractive, perfumed, fresh riesling. ($18.00) Highly Recommended; Winewise
The quality of winemaking at Peter Lehmann, especially with the white wines, has never been better than it is now with Andrew Wigan’s team. The H&V label is clean-cut and smart, and this single vineyard Riesling comes from the sub-region of High Eden at 420 metres. The grapes were picked early to emphasise the purity of lemon and lime juice flavours, lightness of body, crisp, taut lines and vibrant, dry finish. It’s so delicious to drink now but could be aged for a couple of years, if you can resist. Peter Forrestal; Gourmet Traveller WINE Magazine; Best Buys Under $30
