The Partisan team are people of the soil, taking up McLaren Vale viticulture at a time in history when others were pulling out their vines to pursue more lucrative agriculture. They now take aim with each vintage, at identifying the most superior parcels of McLaren Vale fruit, to craft a range of wines which can best articulate their unique provenance and sense of place.

Grown on a single vineyard on Olivers Road in McLaren Vale, the vines are eighty year old. Hand picked at full ripeness, 90% destemmed, 10% whole bunch , all into an open topped fermenter and cold soaked for 5 days at 8øC before being allowed to slowly warm up naturally to begin fermentation. The fermentation reached 32øC by the end of the 20 days of fermentation, allowing for maximum extraction of colour, tannins and flavour into the wine. The wine was pressed into 25% new French oak hogsheads and 75% into large seasoned oak vats. Left on the fermented lees for 18 months the wine was blended, only minimal filtering and then bottled.

Firm in a well-massaged way. Raisins, spice, blueberries, leather. Web of tannin with a savoury finish.
