From 60 to 80 year old vineyards between Greenock and Ebenezer. The grapes open-fermented, basket pressed, the various parcels of wine matured in used oak for between 12 and 18 months. It offers an armful of spices, roses, red berries and wild herbs crushed underfoot, then silky tannins on the long finish. Exceptional Value. Until 2022. Rating: 95 Points; James Halliday Wine Companion

If you only buy one Grenache this year, make it this one. Apart from repeating the same comments every critic is at pains to inform you about - the fruit source of 60 to 80 year old vineyards between Greenock and Ebenezer, what I love about this wine is it throws up really lovely, fleshy and generous fruit characters but some wonderful spicy and savoury tones and mineral acidity balances up the package perfectly. It is generous without being jammy, concentrated without being cloying and serious while still being approachable. It is borderline in the 'Exceptional' zone and nothing borderline about the value at this price. Drink: Now – 2020+; Quality: Exceptional BW; WineStar© November 2013

A fragrant grenache from 60-80 year old Barossa vines, assembled to the tune of just 300 dozen by master craftsman Kym Teusner. It sings with the classic notes of grenache: perfumed cherry, raspberry jam and soft, finely textured tannins. Price: $23; Drink: 2013-2015; Rating: 92 Points; Tyson Stelzer

From 60-80 year old vines and made by Kym Teusner. Cherry, raspberry, chocolate, dusty brown spices and mint. Medium bodied, fine silty tannin, a lick of fruit sweetness and some warmth, but has an attractive sense of what you might call ‘even flow and weight.’ Slurpable. Tasted : Dec13 Alcohol : 14.5% Price : $22 Closure : Screwcap Drink : 2013 - 2016+  Rated : 90 Points Gary Walsh; The Wine Front
