Quinta do Ameal Loureiro 2010 (Vinhos Verdes)
Pedro Araújo’s family sold Port house, Ramos Pinto in the late 80s, after which Pedro bought a (relatively large) single estate of 35ha deep in the Lima Valley. His wines from fastidiously restored vineyards lead the way forward for a ‘new’ Vinho Verde.
Water-white, almost lemon juice in color, with a nose of florals lifted over lemony-minerals and lovely almond blossoms. With good palate richness, it's a wine of very precise carriage: long, balanced, crisp and charming, very complete at the finish.
Biodynamics seems to be progressively adding a deeper, richer fragrant bay leaf character to the lemony precision of Pedro's outstanding crunchy textured Loureiro white. QdA, improbably, just got even better!
