This cleverly crafted wine lures you into its seductive pinot set of fragrance — woody thyme, maybe marjoram as well. It then jumps out at you with a sweet and tangy raspberry note, a saturated flavour bomb mid palate that shows in its finish a more robust tight finish that will sit with hard cheddars as well as fine meats. From several parts of the vineyard with different aspects and soil types. There's a lot on offer here, bramble, spice and dark cherry all in play. Still a bit tight, but will loosen up well over the next few years, and go on from there. James Halliday

Medium to full red/purple colour. The bouquet is a little 'dry reddish' and shows plenty of oak, the tannins arid and firm and slightly grippy. The tannins are very assertive for a pinot. This is a big, highly structured and rather solid pinot, built for the long haul. Huon Hooke

Lovely pinot noir aromatics with bright red fruits, plus hints of whole bunches and spice. This red has gentle tannins and is plump, textural and elegant in the mouth. Tyson Stelzer

This is released rather young for such a deep, solid, structured pinot. It's youthful and the oak is fairly obvious, the tannins firm and slightly grippy. A big wine which will come into its own with time, and should drink well for many years. Australian Gourmet Traveller Wine

All the parts of the puzzle are here but they’re still a little jumbled. The won’t remain so for long. It’s briary, peppery and sappy but it’s also silken, cherry-plummed and sinewy with tannin. I like everything I see; I just want to see/drink it again in another year or more. Campbell Mattinson
