Emanates from one of the very biggest names not just in Coonawarra where this wine hails from, but a legend of Australian wine full stop. We present the latest release Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, with accompanying Halliday and Wine Front bling, with a retail price of $30 - for just $13.99 per bottle!
This is classic Coonawarra Cab - the cassis, liquorice and hints of mint and leaf to the fore before the ripe, bright, juicy palate takes over and the fine grained tannins balance up the package. It is an excellent wine with excellent value at $30. It’s no brainerville at $13.99.
As ever, we need to be a little coy with the detail in order to protect the identity of the wine until it reaches your door but we can reveal a few snippets to aid in your purchasing decision. James Halliday rates it 93 Points, drinking to 2028 and adds a ‘Special Value Star’ noting this is based on the wine’s full retail - not our offer price. The Wine Front has it at 92 Points with a similarly long drinking window; “Like this entry. Elegant feel, but accessibility too.”
The disclaimer here is given it is the lowest priced Mystery wine offered in the Journal to date, we do expect it to go fast and as with other offers of this type, it is available in dozen lots only.
