Established in 1972 Mountadam High Eden estate is Australia’s first cool climate vineyard. Situated on a unique rocky outcrop ranging in elevation up to 550m, the vineyards have a commanding easterly aspect over the Eden Valley. This wine is made using tradition methods and is a blend of the exclusive multi clonal resources available on the estate.

Mountadam has some of the most enviable resources available for Chardonnay with many varietal clones, aged vineyards and geographical aspects. In blending this wine, a balance of the fruit aromas and flavor is sought, capturing the exquisite characteristics of the Chardonnay grape without the influence of oak. Intense lively fruit aromas carry through on the palate, which displays ripe apple, pear and peach characters with a distinct fresh acidity, typical of cool climate Chardonnay.

From the 16 individual Chardonnay vineyards on the estate, 5 vineyard components were selected to make this wine. Harvesting occurred at optimal fruit flavor over a two week period starting on the 26th February. Picking the grapes in the cool of early morning followed by a gentle pressing a long cool 4 week fermentation with our natural cultured yeast, helps retain maximum grape flavors. This Unoaked wine shows the crispness and concentration of ripe Chardonnay.

Of course by the time the critics see this new release, stocks will be well and truly gone. I suspect you will follow suit! Mountadam has some of the most enviable resources available for Chardonnay with many varietal clones, aged vineyards and geographical aspects. 5 vineyard components are selected. This is all about the fruit not the oak. Racy, fresh peach and pear on the nose, more peach, white stony fruit and crisp acidity in the mouth.
