The Mount Trio vineyard is a family venture established in 1989 by winemaker Gavin Berry and his wife Gill Graham and is situated in the elevated Porongurups sub-region of the Great Southern in Western Australia. Mount Trio has approximately 8 hectares (20 acres) of vines planted on the property which is managed by Gavin & Gill. The vineyard is now primarily planted to just Riesling, Pinot Noir and Shiraz, these varieties having proven to be the best suited to the Porongurups.

Mid colour and weight. A beautifully shaped wine. Elegant and lengthy. Flavours of black and red cherry, perhaps some boysenberry, dark olive and assorted dry spice. Kisses of mint and clovey oak. Lingers deliciously through the finish. Not ‘big’ in any sense but it goes about its business in a fine, unfussed manner. Quiet quality. Real value. Has the grace and elegance that the cool Porongurup climate seems to bestow on all the varieties grown there - and that's all those that matter (other than semillon). No more than medium-bodied, the wine has intensity and length to its flavours of black fruit, black olive, multi-spice and oak; its tannins are fine, closing the loop of a fine wine at a bargain price.
