Inspired by the first visit of a reigning monarch to Australia in 1954, today McWilliam’s Mount Pleasant Elizabeth is the embodiment of the synergy achieved by combining the noble grape variety Semillon and the Hunter Valley. Renowned for its unique ability to be enjoyed when fresh and admired when allowed to age gracefully, McWilliam's celebrates both styles through Elizabeth. Having been placed in the Mount Pleasant cellars for extended bottle age, this small parcel of Semillon now enjoys the benefits gained from patience.
Pale golden with a hint of bright green hues. Fresh limes and grapefruit, lemon blossom, and hints of pineapple and cut grass complexity. Lively fresh citrus palate with ripe citrus flavours, a fleshy palate with fine acidity and a long lingering finish. This is a seamless wine of rich citrus flavours and fine acid structure hinting at the potential for this wine to cellar with great longevity. Through to 2017, and beyond.

Cellar Aged. The price of this wine was checked twice with Mount Pleasant (aka McWilliam's), and is unbelievable. It is as fresh as a daisy; the colour is still pale, perhaps a touch greener than the '14 Elizabeth, the bouquet now speaking of variety and place, and the lemon/lemongrass flavours of the palate insistent and persistent, not heavy. Drink By: 2029; Date Tasted: 27 Mar 2015; Alcohol: 10.5%; Rating: 96 Points & Special Value Star; James Halliday
Incredibly lifted and lively citrus fruit on the nose here, heading into grapefruit territory, a really fresh and ripe, mouth-watering, zesty nose. The palate roars with powerful fruit flavour and has impressive focus, line and length. Will age superbly. Rating: 94 Points; Nick Stock
