Mongeard-Mugneret Clos Vougeot Grand Cru 2010
Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret, renamed since 1945, now operates, in the purist of the burgundy tradition, a large vineyard, from the Côte de Nuits to the Côte de Beaune, from Marsannay to the south of Dijon to Puligny-Montrachet, including all the most prestigious villages of the Côte: Gevrey-Chambertin, Vougeot, Nuits Saint Georges andSavigny les Beaune, the centre of the exploitation remaining in Vosne Romanée.
A mild herbal note adds lift to the floral and ripe red berry fruit aromas laced with earth hints that continue onto the somber, rich and voluminous flavors that possess excellent mid-palate concentration as well as very fine depth and length. There is a moderate amount of the hallmark austerity of a young Clos de Vougeot and this will require mid to long-term cellaring. Score: 91-93 Points; Tasted: Jan 2012; Drink: 2025+; Issue: 45; Allen Meadows - Burghound
