Luigi Einaudi was still an Italian, and even though the job as Italy's first President must have been quite demanding, legend had it that he was always on hand for vintage time - a story confirmed by the oldies even now. This was clearly his passion and it is reflected through to today. For every bottle produced there is a deliberate thought for each wine’s existence and an application of care and resources to its growing and making. 

The result of an accurate selection of grapes from the Einaudi vineyard in Barolo. A great wine of the Langa, garnet red with a shade of amber, of intense and embracing fragrance, full bodied but smooth tannic taste, with a long spiced final taste. Derived from the Nebbiolo grapes from the Costa Grimaldi vineyard owned by the Einaudi estate, facing Barolo. The tannic characteristics guarantee a long life in bottle. With time it acquires complexity as the ethereal aromas of spices, truffles and leather. 

Subtle and refined with dried strawberries, flowers, cream and cedar. Medium body. Fine, creamy tannins and a flavorful finish. The tannins melt into the wine nicely. Drink in 2024. Date: June 2021; Rating: 95 Points; James Suckling

Medium to full ruby to brick-red colour with a tawny tint in the rim. The bouquet is all about dried herbs and dried flowers, savoury and evoking medicinal herbs, the flavours continuing along the firmly-structured palate with excellent depth and persistence. Fresh nuts and clean, new leather nuances; chaffy with prolonged aeration. A fine wine in traditional style, of marvellous perfume, not showing overt oak but elegantly savoury, linear and lingering.
