Juniper Estate is a producer of premium wines in Wilyabrup, the heart of the Margaret River winegrowing area. It is one of the oldest vineyards in the area. No sub-region has been historically more important in the success of Margaret River than Wilyabrup, where the first vineyards were planted and wineries built and which continues to be home to a disproportionately large number of famous, usually small, vineyards.

Juniper Estate was planted by Henry and Maureen Wright in 1973 on Harmans Road South, in its picturesque setting along the Wilyabrup Creek. The vineyard grows on the gravelly loam soils, which have produced so many of the Margaret River wines which now command Australia-wide and international recognition.

The Crossing wines fulfill a different purpose from the Estate wines. They are our more easy drinking style with an appropriately lower price tag. We would like them to be enjoyed every day while the Estate wines remain the pinnacle of our ambitions, spending more time in oak (in the case of the reds) and being released later.

The 2016 vintage started early, but then settled down with picking dates for Chardonnay being some of the latest in recent years. The mild weather conditions allowed for slow ripening with ripe flavour profiles developing at lower than excepted sugar (Baume) levels. The resulting wine was made entirely from grapes grown on our southern Margaret River vineyard and has  a wonderful array of bright fruit aromas and flavours. It is made as a carefree drinking style with modest complexity from barrel fermentation and lees stirring.
