This is a young estate in south-western Sicily, whose vineyards caught the eye and winemaking talents of Valentino Sciotti. Valentino (of Gran Sasso and Vesevo) saw they had great vineyards and a good winery but were missing the necessary expertise to make wines the market required. Valentino and his team of young winemakers have taken the raw materials and transformed them into wines that people want to drink.

Cherry and nutmeg are subtle on the nose. Ripe fruits bursts on the tongue, reminiscent of wild blackberries fresh from the bush. Warm spice and new leather cascade over the palate for a deeply smooth finish. Excellent, Highly Recommended. Rating: 94 Points & Chairman's Trophy; UWC; New York

It’s a big mouthful of wine, rich in fruit and oak, so if you’re maybe a Barossa fan, looking for a little Italian adventure, this will serve you well. Dark chocolate, liquorice, blackberry and dark cherry, spicy oak laid on. Firm grainy tannin, almost sticky to feel, and a savoury dried herb and earth finish. Bold but good. Tasted: Nov 2016; Alcohol: 13.5%; Price: $23; Closure: Diam; Drink: 2016-2019+; Rating: 90+ Points; Gary Walsh; The Wine Front
