Hurley Hommage Pinot Noir 2012
Sparkling mid-garnet, this could be the best Hommage yet, as the vineyard (like Lodestone) settles well into its second decade (planted 1998 and 1999). The nose gives up deep red cherries and plums, rose water and almonds. This is a more fruitful and less savoury Hommage, but there is still a hint of sage. In the palate, the wine is plummy and sweet, precise and creamy, with perfect line and lively acid. We still taste those gorgeous wine gums, but now within a more tightly knitted structure (although not austere). At the end, it really flares. Alc/vol 13.5%l. To 2024 and beyond. 300 cases made.
North-east facing. It is a warm but sheltered little vineyard of 2 acres, and almost all of clone G5V15 grown from donated cutting (there is a little MV6). The name Hommage is a tribute to the winemaking families who have gone before.
