Hogshead is an extension of the partnership between South Australian winegrower Jim Zerella and Nicholas Crampton. Hogshead Shiraz is an opulently flavoured and full bodied Shiraz, classically South Australian, and perfectly suited to barbecued red meats and other big flavours.

Sourced from three of Jim’s favourite vineyards in the finest areas of McLaren Vale – all vineyards cropping at under 2 tonnes acre. Average vine age is forty years with the oldest vineyard being sixty years.

Dense, dark purple in colour with a brooding nose of dark berry fruit, blueberry, kirsch and mince pie spice. The first taste brings a wall of mouth-filling flavour; licorice and dark fruit, with a touch of orange peel and  more exotic. The wine is all about unforced fruit intensity and a balance between glossy fruit, a touch of whole bunch complexity and fresh acidity. Still evolving but will be a classically expansive and complex McLaren Vale GSM.
