Hoddles Creek Estate is located in the Upper Yarra, which is higher, cooler and more marginal than the lower Yarra, The vineyard is cropped at less than 2.5 tonnes per acre. Being in a marginal climate, requires extensive canopy management. From a single east facing block and picked at a slightly higher ripeness than the standard label, shows a citrus drive with abundant melon and stone fruit characters

From a cooler year, with no new oak used. No fining. No filtration or additions. White peach, almonds, brine and subtle struck match, honeyed florals even. Light to medium bodied, calm and composed, almost silky feel, sharpened up by a sweet lemon and stony acidity. Flows like picture of a waterfall taken with slow shutter speed. Cool. Refreshing. Focused. Bright. The length is exemplary too, gently nutty but pure and long. Hard to slow down the drinking pace. Rating: 96 Points; Drink: 2016-2024+; Price: $45; Date Tasted: December 2015; Alcohol: 13.2%; Gary Walsh - The Wine Front
