A detailed freight information page is available here. We offer FREE Delivery on dozen lots straight or mixed to 98% of Australia. This page explains charges and surcharges for quantities not in dozen lots and also charges to outlying or regional areas. It also stipulates all of our freight rules and gives an estimated delivery time. Please note, information on our freight page form part of the Terms & Conditions of Use.
Yes. Your order is insured against loss and breakage. Please note that freight companies will not recognise claims that have been signed for or left unattended where an authority to leave the wine has been given. If you suspect breakage simply hand the box back to the driver and do not sign for it. We will issue a replacement and re-delivery at our cost.
As per our freight information page, orders of non-dozen lots attract a $10 surcharge ($20 when orders of 5 or less bottles total are ordered). The surcharge is implemented for a variety of reasons. Firstly, freight companies charge us the same to freight 6 bottles as they do to freight 12 bottles for potentially half the profit hence we cannot subsidise the freight as we do with full dozens. Secondly, there is often a repack exercise when less than 12 bottles are ordered involving greater time and effort with packaging - again this doesn't exist with orders of 12 bottles. Finally, we still need to insure the full amount regardless. We are confident that the total price paid - including potential surcharges or freight fees, the provenance of the wines and service provided by WineStar are still very highly competitive if not the best available.
All deliveries are made during business hours so places of work or business hours addresses are the most favoured destinations. Failing that, we ask that you leave additional instructions if no one is home, such as "leave at back door" or "OK to leave on front porch". If there is no one home and no instruction, the courier will leave a card to say she/he has been and ask you contact them to arrange re-delivery or collect wine from a Parcel Collect depot or a PO Box (we do not offer PO Box delivery to all areas). This may cause you undue delay or inconvenience - WineStar will not be responsible for these delays or issues arising from wine not being delivered due to no one being home and no authority to leave goods given - hence our advice of a business hours address or authority to leave. Deliveries unclaimed within 7 days will be returned to us and accounts will be credited less freight fees. Please note that freight companies will not recognise claims that have been signed for or left unattended where an authority to leave the wine has been given. (N.b. In some regional areas delivery will be to the carriers depot or post office and you will be required to collect the wine from there as a condition of purchase).
We use a courier service as well as Australia Post so can deliver to PO Boxes in selected (not all) areas. We do not offer PO Box delivery to all areas. Our checkout will advise if PO Boxes are not a shiiping option for your area. (N.b. In some regional areas delivery will be to the carriers depot or post office and you will be required to collect the wine from there as a condition of purchase).
As a rule, couriers will not call prior to delivery so we ask that this not be requested to avoid disappointment. By request, we can email you on dispatch so that you can expect a delivery. Simply reply to your email confirmation with a 'request to advise when sent' and we will email you as soon as the wines leave our cellarage.
Our freight companies quote business hours delivery. As we outsource deliveries globally, we are unable to accept orders conditional on a specific date or time. While every endeavour will be made to have deliveries occur at a requested time, this cannot be guaranteed.
By request we are able to delay dispatch of an order to ensure it does not arrive before a specific date. Further, by request, we can email you on dispatch so that you can expect a delivery. Simply reply to your email confirmation with a 'request to advise when sent' and we will do the rest.
Some areas that are extremely warm all year around (Northern Territory and North WA) and some extremely remote areas are not serviced. Further, there is a 6 bottle minimum purchase outside of Zone 1. You zone can be determined on our freight information page. Finally, in some remote areas delivery will be to the carriers depot or post office and you will be required to collect the wine from there as a condition of purchase.
As per our Heat Policy, WineStar cellars all of our wines in a state-of-the-art climate control which is the envy of the retail fine wine industry. All dispatched orders are treated with the utmost care. Orders travel over night, wines are bottom stacked and we stipulate to all transport companies the need to keep wines cool, dark and dry at all times. Our heat policy also states that during the warmer months we reserve the right to hold orders in instances of extreme heat, until there is a clear path of non-extreme temperatures between us and you. All orders are picked and packed and resting blissfully in our cellarage awaiting better conditions to send the wine when it will be dispatched overnight and kept cool, dark and dry all the way to you. As usual, the customer is always right and you may request immediate delivery despite the heat (at your risk). We will keep in constant contact with recipients but as a rule, unless specified we will hold rather than risk spoiling the wine. We welcome a comparison of these facilities and policy to any of our competitors.
Placing an order via the WineStar website is very simple, even for the computer illiterate. Simply locate the wine(s) you would like to purchase by navigating the drop down menus located at the top of every page or use the search facility also located at the top right of every page. Enter the desired quantity and click the 'BUY' button which will put your purchase in the shopping cart. You can either continue shopping (the cart will remember your purchase) or finalise the order. To finalise your order, enter your postcode then choose your suburb from the drop down menu to calculate freight, read the site terms and conditions then 'proceed to checkout'. Once there, you can enter your details securely to finalise. You will automatically be sent an email confirmation of your order.
You do not need an account to order from us. Shopping with WineStar is open to everyone. You do not need to be a member, you do not need to be an account holder, you do not need to be a subscriber and you do not need to pay a joining, an annual or a membership fee.
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club) as well as PayPal payment.
An A4 (full page) tax invoice is provided with all orders at the time of delivery. Invoices can be used for tax deductions for tourists at TRS offices at all major airports. Additional copies of invoices can be requested and will be emailed out noting we are unable to provide invoices until after orders have been processed.
Our preferred mode of ordering is via the website. The site has up to the minute stock information and pricing, is completely secure for both the user and the merchant and ensures accuracy of orders, minimising error completely. We are unable to accept phone orders for these reasons.
No. Our licence does not allow pick-ups from our Cellarage and Adminsitration Centre.
We do allow order cancellations noting charges will be incurred depending on the stage of cancellation. There is no charge if orders are yet to be processed. If processed there is a cancellation fee of $20. If dispatched, there is an additional fee to cover freight both ways dependant on customer destination.
WineStar uses EziMerchant and the latest in Comodo encryption technology, protecting your credit card and personal details against disclosure to a third party. We undertake to reimburse you in full should you ever be the victim of unauthorised use of your credit card on our site.

We understand regardless of the awards and plaudits afforded a wine that it is not going to be to the taste of every single person that purchases it. Ironically the more we sell of a given wine, the greater the chance that there will be someone out there that doesn't like it. One factor to consider before contemplating return is that of a faulty bottle, be that the affects of TCA in a wine finished under cork or another fault that is still likely with screwcap. Our first suggestion is always to open another bottle (should one exist), allow the wine some time to breath (ideally decanted for an hour) then try again. If this wine is sound, then the initial one opened is probably faulty and we can arrange a credit or replacement (will vary dependent on winery/supplier policy). In all instances we require you to keep the offending wine as a credit or replacement is not possible without it.
If you wish to return wine not to your taste, we would be happy to refund in full any bottles returned to us (if we are satisfied they have been stored and handled correctly) with a deduction made for our initial freight and insurance fee. This will vary dependant on your location. Please note we are unable to process refunds until the wines are received in good condition although most refunds will be processed within 24 hours of receipt of goods. Please email us with any returns queries and we can advise the correct course of action based on the relevant issue.

We range and stock over 3000 wines that are listed on the WineStar site. If the wine is listed, it generally means it is in stock. We rarely have the stock issues of our competitors because unlike them we stock the wines rather than order on demand. Our range consists of distinguished Australian wines, highly rated current vintage wines with the best recent press, boutique and commercial options and the best range of international wines seen in Australia with multiple vintages of First Growth Bordeaux, Grand Cru Burgundy, Single Vineyard Rhones, Super Tuscans and brilliant Spanish and Germans just to name a few. Very rarely we may fall out of stock on a handful of wines in our range (which we will quickly re-order).
WineStar offers a Fundraising solution for your registered charity or organisation where your supporters purchase bargain priced wine which is delivered to them by WineStar and your cause profits from the sale. You can view working examples of our fundraising program here. Please email us if you are keen on getting involved and we will email you back the details.
The WineStar website does not need any additional plugins to operate and will work fine with tversions of all browsers. Before enquiring about the status of your order, it is important to read our freight information page for estimated delivery times to your suburb, in particular those for multiple product mixed dozens as we are unable to provide order status inside our estimated delivery times. Further, for those orders going to unattended addresses, please ensure no calling card has been left by the courier or someone else has not brought the wine in (it happens a lot!). Also, please read our Heat Policy as this the the most likely reason for delays in delivery (apart from attempted delivery when no one is home). Finally, please note it may take up to 24 hours after dispatch to provide tracking information.
With this information at hand, if you believe your order has been unduly delayed or falling well out of the estimated delivery time, simply reply to your email order confirmation requesting a status of your order. This email will contain your order number, contents and delivery details so there is no need to include these.
