Elefante Blanco 2014
Elefante is a range of modern Spanish wines created by Riojan winemaker Javier Murua. Sourced from Castilla la Mancha, each wine is crafted with a contemporary philosophy, delivering rich and approachable fruit-driven flavours that capture the passion and excitement of the Spanish culture.
Castilla la Mancha, the setting of Miguel de Cervantes’ novel Don Quixote, is the spiritual heart of Spain. The rugged plains are dotted with windmills, olive groves and historic cities. The region’s famed cuisine is highlighted by Manchego cheese and full bodied wines.
Elefante Blanco is a blend of local Spanish varieties Macabeo, Verdejo, and Viura with a dash of Sauvignon Blanc.
Fresh and lifted aromatics range from citrus and stone fruits to more exotic notes such as passionfruit and guave. The palate is expressive and inviting with ripe floral and tropical fruit flavours balanced by bright acidity and crisp mineral zing. Serve well chilled with a wide range of seafood and white meat dishes.
